Today I have special treat for you: the beautiful helicopter proposal from Daniel to Kristina, who travelled through Vancouver together on a road trip vacation. Jelger and I occasionally photograph proposals, but for this one I was flying solo! Pun intended. 😉 The reason why: because there was only room for one photographer in the helicopter, hehe. And I was the lucky one.

Daniel booked a flight with Sky Helicopters and brought an unsuspecting Kristina to the hanger for a flight. While she was certainly a bit confused about being dressed so nice, she didn’t have a clue what was going on. Of course I needed a “background story” about me being in the helicopter. I pretended to work for Sky (they even gave me a T-shirt). And I was there to take photos for their social media. Sounds believable, right?

Sometimes helicopter proposals can be tricky, because the weather is a crucial factor as the pilot flies on sight! But that was not a problem on this day, because the sky was absolutely blue and gorgeous! Despite all the sunshine and it being the end of July, there was still quite a bit of snow in the mountains: beautiful! I love snow and when it’s also nice and warm, that’s an added bonus. The remote Pitt Meadows backcountry locations make sure that you have absolute privacy and the landscapes are amazing!

Once we landed, everything happened so fast! With only 30 minutes of landing time, after a short bit of exploring, Daniel went down on one knee and asked the question. Kristina said yes and the rest is history! They enjoyed a glass of champagne together and we took a couple more photographs. “Surprise, I’m actually here to photograph you! 😉 “

I loved seeing that after their proposal day, these two went on and continued the adventuring throughout BC! Including a paragliding tour and more.
