Jocelyn and Jeremy’s Buntzen Lake elopement was our first wedding shoot in 2019! And what a great way to set the tone for this year. 😉 The two of them started their day with a heartfelt church ceremony, witnessed by a small group of their closest family members, their beautiful little girl and their friends.

I want to especially thank Jeremy for allowing me to share a personal topic in this post. Four years ago (almost to the day of the wedding) Jeremy’s mom passed away. To honor her presence, the two of them brought her photograph, so she could still be present at the wedding ceremony, and in a few couple of the family photos.

As a wedding photographer I’ve often witnessed how after a loved one has passed on, they’re not mentioned or (visually) represented at all during the wedding. Seeing how beautifully Jeremy’s mom’s memory was fully included, touched me deeply. So when you’re reading this blog post and you’ve yet to plan your wedding, take a moment and consider the option.

After the wedding ceremony, everyone went for a festive lunch. The couple had even brought a wedding cake!

Next we finished their elopement with the portrait shoot at Buntzen Lake. A perfect spot, because the two of them love the outdoors. On top of that, a spectacular blanket of sunlight lit up the mountain at the end of the shoot. I’ve never seen anything like it!

And when I mentioned they love nature, I meant LOVE. Jocelyn told us about some of the hikes she used to do and all I can think is: Jelger and I need to seriously to up our game, haha. We haven’t done any overnight trips without car camping yet! But our tent is ready and waiting for the coming year!
